In most cases, only a few database licenses are required to run fully functional web applications for dozens to hundreds of users!
2) Compatibility. Because your users only need a web browser to connect, one user could be using a Windows XP Pro machine with Internet Explorer and another could be using a Macintosh OS X with Safari. Both users will receive the same experience on your web application. The developed application is browser independent.
